The challenge: partners at 70 locations need real-time access to product knowledge

Nathalie Mies, eLearning Manager at BABOR, was faced with the task of training partners worldwide with varying levels of knowledge and learning needs. The target group—from beauticians to beauty experts who provide retail advice required specific product knowledge that varied depending on skin type and application. In addition, many do not have a fixed PC workstation and therefore have little opportunity to attend regular training courses. The coronavirus pandemic also increased the need for digital formats, as face-to-face training was no longer sufficient.

BABOR L&D Team

“Our users are very heterogeneous, in that they not only have different baseline levels of knowledge, but also different learning objectives. Another challenge: many learners, like beauticians, don't have a workplace with a PC where they can do their training in peace and quiet.”

– Nathalie Mies, eLearning Manager at BABOR

Another challenge: before the introduction of 360Learning, partner training was an extremely resource-intensive process for the BABOR L&D team. The preparation and implementation of classroom training in the BABOR Academies or on site at the customer's premises took up a lot of time. In turn, the trainees lacked quick access to up-to-date product knowledge in order to provide customers with the best possible advice.

“Before we introduced 360Learning, we operated in a very traditional way: we trained almost exclusively in person, which was very time-consuming. By the start of the coronavirus crisis at the latest, it was clear that we needed digital and mobile training.”

– Nathalie Mies, eLearning Manager at BABOR

The solution: “BABOR in a pocket”, or mobile and collaborative product training for everyone, any time

1. Efficient and collaborative content creation

The introduction of 360Learning significantly accelerated content creation for BABOR's eLearning team. The collaborative authoring tool allows multiple team members to work on courses, provide feedback, and coordinate content at the same time. This approach promotes efficiency and makes it possible to cover the specific learning needs of different target groups. AI-supported content creation in particular saves time and reduces effort.

“When creating content, several authors can work on content at the same time, review content and provide feedback. This enables us to remain innovative and close to our learners.”

– Susanne Wißkirchen, Education Manager at BABOR

2. Mobile and personalized learning experience

With 360Learning, learning at BABOR is now mobile, flexible, and individualized. The mobile app gives learners round-the-clock access to product knowledge, which is particularly practical for beauticians in direct contact with customers. This means that knowledge is always “in their pocket” and the content is tailored to individual learning needs and requirements.

“Our trainees now have the opportunity to learn everything about BABOR and our product worlds 24/7. Quite literally: ‘BABOR in a pocket’.”

– Nathalie Mies, eLearning Manager at BABOR

3.Higher engagement through collaborative and up-to-date content

Visually appealing and highly collaborative, the platform encourages learner engagement and a sense of community through features such as the newsfeed and feedback options.

With interactive formats like quizzes, BABOR engages different types of learners and creates a dynamic and collaborative learning environment. BABOR also keeps its finger on the pulse of the market by continuously updating its content.

“Thanks to functions such as the newsfeed and the feedback function, we are closer to the users and their needs. As a result of the interactivity and mobile learning via the app, we now have a high level of learner engagement.”

– Nathalie Mies, eLearning Manager at BABOR

Results

Just a few months after the introduction of 360Learning, BABOR has achieved impressive training results:

• The eLearning team was able to create 300 courses and 100 learning paths on the platform within just 6 months, without additional staff, which are now actively used by around 2,000 learners.

• In addition to occasional classroom training, BABOR partners can now access product training courses at any time and without having to travel, thanks to the mobile app.

• The 89% completion rate speaks for itself: thanks to the interactive BABOR training courses and the user-friendliness of the mobile app, learner engagement has increased significantly.

For the company, this means that BABOR beauty experts can provide their customers with even more targeted and personalized advice, with a positive impact on the overall customer experience and business results.

What's next?

Nathalie and Susanne from the BABOR eLearning team now plan to continuously develop the mobile training courses and provide learners with fresh, innovative learning content. The aim is not only to strengthen the partners' specialist knowledge, but to turn them into true brand ambassadors for BABOR.
